"How to Stay Motivated: Expert Tips for Success"

Have you ever had a long list of things that you want or have to do but you just can’t muster up the energy to do it? Motivation is one of those things that we all wish we had more of in order to achieve the things we want to. Whether it be starting a new business or overcoming anxiety, motivation is a crucial factor. So what do we do if don’t have it?

The simple answer is that we create motivation. Motivation is the desire and drive to act towards a goal. It is what drives us forward and helps us to accomplish things. There is a reason that motivational speakers do so well and that is because we feel better when we are motivated. The issue comes about when we don’t feel motivated and we get a bit stuck. 

Your life is filled with routines, and it’s easy to become oblivious to it. You get up, get ready, go to work, come home, prepare dinner and then go to bed. You may do a few other things, but generally, your days are the same. In such circumstances, we lose that spark within us.


There is no excitement to what the day will bring because we think we know what will happen. If we have already achieved certain things (like a family, a job, a house, etc.) we lose that sense of purpose. With no sense of purpose, there is no goal thus there is no motivation. 

The good news is, there is a lot to look forward to in life! Every day brings new opportunities. We just need to keep our eyes open enough to see them. Although there are certain things that we can’t change, we can try to make little differences like wearing something new, having something new for lunch or speaking about something new. It doesn’t have to be a big change, but it’s something that will propel a difference within you. 


When it comes to goals and aspirations, take a look at what you would like to be different in your life. If you struggle with anxiety, there may be certain triggers that you want to conquer so that you can have a more liberating lifestyle. When you want to build up that motivation, you need to know what you are aiming for. That’s half of the battle. There’s a reason for you to go and do certain things. 


How to actually generate motivation is to just start doing things. As I mentioned at the start, we tend to get stuck and that’s when we lose all motivation. You don’t see the point anymore and it becomes easier to be lazy and do the bare minimum. By knowing your goals, you just have to make the simple decision to just do it. 


Take for example that you want to get stronger. In order to do that, you have to exercise. You’ve planned out when you’re going to do certain exercises but when you get to it, you don’t feel like it. Option A is to just skip it until you feel like you want to but then you aren’t moving towards your goal. Option B is to push yourself to do it anyway and then move towards getting fitter. 


Another example can be that you want to overcome anxiety when going to the shops so that you can go shopping without having an anxiety attack. You may feel like you don’t want to conquer it that day, but by challenging yourself even to get to the shop is a step towards the direct direction. 


Once you take that first, initial step, you should find that your motivation will already have increased. You accomplished something and that will leave you motivated to continue the progress. Think about games. The designers keep you playing because of the accomplishments you get. That’s the motivation. Once you are out of your rut and you start moving forward again, you will have the motivation you need to get you to your goal.
