Every year, most of us make some kind of resolution either to give up something or change something. It seems like a good time to do so but for some of us, it feels like we can't change things as we don't choose to suffer from anxiety. There are things we can do though, that may take a year, but by the end of it, you should feel less anxious.
#1 Challenge yourself weekly
There are 52 weeks in a year, so set yourself goals or challenges for you to try and complete. For example, if you struggle being in public places, maybe set yourself a goal of going to a cafe for 15 minutes. You can set yourself goals in advance but be willing to change and adapt them as it goes on.
#2 Make a list of what you struggle with
If you don't want to set yourself too many goals in advance, make a list of the things you struggle with and would like to be able to do by the end of the year. You can actively try to work on them at given opportunities but also you may notice that some things you start to deal with better naturally.
#3 Try to do activities with friends once a month
Social anxiety is becoming increasingly common which leads people to feel very isolated. Try to challenge yourself once every month to go out with friends and do something fun. Although it may not feel like fun to start because of feeling anxious, but the more you do it, the more relaxed you should feel.
#4 Make time for yourself every week
As well as challenging yourself, it's important o give yourself time to unwind. Plan something for every week at least, that you want to do for fun. For example, you could spend some time doing something artistic (such as painting or clay modelling).
#5 Keep a journal or make a scrapbook of the year
Make this a year to remember. Fill a scrapbook with all of your achievements, no matter how small. Try to take pictures of the bigger events. By the end of the year, you will have something tangible to show for all of your successes.
Those are a few things you can do to try and help lessen your anxiety this year. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to achieve everything you want to, but by setting yourself goals, you are giving yourself motivation. When you see that you can conquer things, your confidence will increase and in turn, your anxiety should lessen.
Remember the motto: "New Year, New Me, Less Anxiety"
