The Creative Act: A Way Of Being - A Review

Below is my Goodreads review of The Creative Act: A Way Of Being by Rick Rubin. It was a book that was gifted to me and initially I wasn’t too sure about it, but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

It’s a book that left me feeling motivated to pursue my passions regardless of success. Let’s take writing a book. If you’ve written a book whether it’s a short story or a novel, you’re an author. It doesn’t matter whether you are published or not. The act of creating, is precesily that. An artist isn’t defined by how much art they have sold but rather by the art that they create.

It’s a liberating way of thinking that enables you to focus on what truly matters. The way the book is written also feels like a conversation. Imagine being able to sit down with someone at the top of their game and get one piece of advice from them. It’s an interesting perspective on life and it’s a book that left me feeling immensely positive.
